"Look Mommy, big sticker!"

Photobucket

Yes, that is my son playing with a panty liner.
I think it shows real creativity on his part.
Yup, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Three Years Old

Sweet Boy,
Well, I had a nice Batman themed birthday party planned for you, but Mother Nature had other things in mind for your birthday. As I type this, we are in the midst of a huge Nor'easter and can expect 18-24 inches of snow. Not quite the day I had in mind, but I'm thinking it may be a blessing in disguise because now we can celebrate the day of your birth with just our little family. Sounds perfect to me.

What can I say about you bubba? You have the unique ability to be the most lovable and most frustrating little dude that ever lived. That's probably not a fair statement - you are just a typical, wild little boy - but I spend all day with you, everyday, and put up with your antics, so I'm allowed to call you frustrating.

You make me laugh - the kind of laugh that I can't control. You make the funniest faces and bring smiles to complete strangers' faces. I predict that you will be nominated "Class Clown" in high school. You are such a boy, the exact definition of the word, but you talk in the sweetest baby voice. You are a complete mama's boy and always want me to carry you, hug you, and dress you. I eat it up because I know it won't always be this way.

You have started coming into bed with us in the middle of the night. You always come to my side of the bed and climb in with me. But when I wake up you are all snuggled up and warm, right in between your dad and I. I really treasure the mornings with you. You call me "my precious."

You are growing up right before my eyes. In the past week you have become completely potty trained. You are speaking complete, full sentences, and surprising me everyday with your vocabulary. You amaze me. You are such a sweet-hearted little boy, and I'm so very blessed to be your mom. Happy birthday my precious.

I love you to pieces,
mama

He's practically in college

Photobucket

We decided it was probably about time that this little dude make some progress on his New Year's resolution: to cut out the diapers and start using the potty. So this morning we went cold turkey, hid all the diapers in the closet, and brought out the big boy pants. The guide we are using suggested that we throw all the extra diapers out in the trash, but I have a complex when it comes to throwing stuff out.

After some slight confusion on my part as to whether he should be standing or sitting (we settled on standing - reason 1,876 I'm glad I'm a girl), he took right to it and has only had 2 accidents today. It's only the first day so I'm pretty excited about that. And I have to admit that I got teary when he peed on the potty for the first time. Don't judge me for that please. How did he get old enough to be able to do that? These past three years have flown by.

I wanted to take a picture of him on the potty but then I remembered my dad showing the same picture of me to friends and relatives, so I showed some compassion. Plus, I already have tons of pictures where his sister has dressed him as Jasmine and her other favorite princesses. I can always torture him with those later.

Friday Photoshoot

It's been frigid in our area lately - we're talking in the teens. Not a fan.

I realized I have been slacking in the photography department lately. So the kids and I had a toddler photoshoot. While MJ played with magnets, I clicked away.

And not to be left out, here's bubba.

That last one is his signature look.
